To be sustained by His might, guided by His word, and established in His will is not only our need but our greatest joy. This is the life of faith—the life that glorifies Him in every moment, whether in the labor of our hands or the stillness of our trust. Sustain us by your power
guide us by your word,
keeping us each hour
Your will our bread as food.
Glorify Yourself Lord
in all you put before,
each labor good in our hand
with heart as gold adorn.
You overlay to dress her
with gladness as she goes,
her face as flint perpetual
she cannot but praise flow
With honor of your giving
how ceaselessly you grow
from past to last each moment
with hearts of you to know.
Committed work to you Lord
establish every plan,

Every line of Janae’s poem calls our hearts to rely on the Lord—not just for strength but for direction, sustenance, and purpose. When we ask God to glorify Himself in all He places before us, we acknowledge that our work, our lives, and our every breath belong to Him.
The psalmist declares, “Commit your works to the LORD, and your plans will be achieved.” (Proverbs 16:3, BSB). True peace is found in yielding each endeavor to Him, trusting that He will establish it according to His will. Just as He sustains creation, He sustains His children—our strength comes not from our own efforts, but from His provision.
The imagery of the steadfast face, set like flint, echoes Isaiah 50:7: “But the Lord GOD helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced. Therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I will not be put to shame.” (BSB). When we are firmly planted in Him, no storm of doubt or hardship can shake us. Gladness clothes those who trust in the Lord, for He alone is their source of joy.
Jesus teaches us that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). The poem beautifully reflects this truth—our food, our daily bread, is His will. The soul that delights in His commands and walks in obedience is continually nourished, lacking nothing.
