Dear friend, if you should die today, where would your soul be? Heaven or Hell? There is no middle ground, no second chance after death, no purgatory to cleanse away sin. Your soul’s eternity rests upon one great matter—have you been washed in the blood of Jesus Christ?
“Repent ye, and believe the gospel.” – Mark 1:15
The Awful Condition of Man
O my friend, do you not know that you have sinned against the Most High? Your conscience testifies against you. Have you never lied? Have you never lusted? Have you never blasphemed the name of the Lord? One sin alone is enough to damn a soul, and yet your transgressions are as countless as the sands upon the seashore. The Scripture declares:
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
What will you do when you stand before the Judge of all the earth? How will you answer for your rebellion against Him? Hell yawns before you, justice demands satisfaction, and you have nothing to offer! The wages of sin is death—eternal separation from God, eternal torment in the lake of fire.
Oh, tremble! For you have a soul, and that soul is more precious than all the riches of the world. Shall you sell it for the fleeting pleasures of sin? Shall you cast it away for a moment’s indulgence?
God’s Mercy: A Savior for the Worst of Sinners
But, praise be to God! The Judge of all the earth is also full of mercy, and in infinite love He has made a way for guilty sinners to be saved. He sent His own Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. This Christ is no mere prophet or teacher—He is the eternal Son of God, clothed in human flesh, perfect in holiness, and infinite in grace. He lived the righteous life that you and I have failed to live, and in His infinite mercy, He laid down His life as a sacrifice for sinners.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
On the cross, Jesus bore the wrath that you deserved. The chastisement of your sin was upon Him, and by His stripes, you may be healed. He was made to be sin, though He knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. And on the third day, He rose from the grave, breaking the power of death forever!
The Two Hands by Which We Lay Hold of Christ
My friend, here is the matter plainly set before you: You must be saved. And how shall you be saved? By repentance and faith.
Repentance is not a mere sorrow for sin, though godly sorrow is a blessed thing. True repentance is a change of mind and heart toward sin and God. You must see your sin for what it is—an abomination before the Lord—and you must turn from it, not as though you could cleanse yourself, but as one who flees from a burning house.
“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him.” – Isaiah 55:7
But repentance alone will not save! You must also believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Cast yourself wholly upon Him. Do not trust in your prayers, your good works, or your religious duties—these are but filthy rags. Trust in Christ alone!
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” – Acts 16:31
A Call to Immediate Decision
Oh, dear soul, why would you delay? Will you gamble with eternity? The Savior stands ready to receive you. His arms are open, His blood is sufficient, and His promise is sure:
“Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” – John 6:37
Run to Him! Cry out to Him! Say from the depths of your heart:
“Lord, I am undone. I am a sinner deserving of wrath, but I believe that Christ died for me. I lay my sins upon Him and take Him as my only hope. Save me, O Lord, by Thy mercy!”
He will hear, and He will save!
Now, Go and Walk as a Child of God
If you have believed, then live for Him who died for you! Depart from sin, seek to image Christ, love Christ, and confess Him before men. Do not be ashamed of your Savior, but rather proclaim Him to a dying world. Read His Word, pray without ceasing, and find a congregation where Christ is preached in truth.
And may God, who is rich in mercy, bless this message to your soul, and bring you safely to glory. Amen.
