This truth is the heartbeat of the gospel. It is not merely a doctrine to be understood but a reality to be lived. When God adopts us, He does not bring us into His family reluctantly or out of duty—He brings us in with delight. He loves us as He loves His own Son, Jesus. This is why Paul writes, “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him” (Romans 8:16-17, BSB). We are not just pardoned criminals—we are beloved sons and daughters, given full inheritance in Christ.
Think of what this means for your daily life. If Yahweh is truly your Abba, what have you to fear? What burden of shame or guilt can remain? No earthly trouble, no spiritual attack, no failing of your own can separate you from the love of the Father. “For you did not receive a spirit of slavery leading to fear again” (Romans 8:15, NASB). Slaves cower, but sons and daughters stand secure. Orphans wonder where they belong, but God’s children know their place. This is the grace in which we stand, the love that defines us.
Let this sink deep into your heart. You are not abandoned. You are not forgotten. You are not rejected. You are held in the everlasting arms of your Father. Run to Him. Call on Him. Rest in Him. For Yahweh is not only God Almighty—He is your Abba.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39, BSB).
Glory to His name forever! Amen!
