The words of this beloved hymn echo the heart of every believer who has encountered the saving power of Jesus Christ. It is a testimony of transformation, a declaration of the mercy that flows from Calvary, and a reminder that salvation is deeply personal.
“Glory to His name!”
The blood of Christ is not a distant theological concept; it is the very lifeblood of our faith. Scripture tells us, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7, BSB). This is not merely an abstract truth—it is the reality that defines our relationship with God. The blood was applied, not just generally to the world, but specifically to the hearts of those who believe.
How often do we reflect on the weight of this truth?
The sacrifice of Jesus was not simply an event in history but the divine work that reaches across time to every repentant heart. It was at the cross that the debt of sin was paid, and it is through His blood that we stand justified before God. “For this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins” (Matthew 26:28, BSB).
This is why we sing, why we rejoice, and why we live in grateful obedience. The blood of Christ has not only cleansed us but has brought us near to God. “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2:13, BSB). What a staggering reality! Those who were once alienated, bound by sin and without hope, have been drawn into the very presence of the living God.
Have you experienced this cleansing flood?
Has the blood of Christ been applied to your heart? The invitation of the gospel is open to all who will come, repent, and believe. The work is finished, the price has been paid, and the way to the Father is open.
“There, to my heart, was the blood applied.” This is the anthem of the redeemed. May our lives continually declare, Glory to His name!
