Protected — Held in the Father’s Unbreakable Grip

Day 14: These words from Jesus are a fortress for the soul. In them, we hear the voice of the Good Shepherd—not just calling us by name, but securing our future. He doesn’t merely promise life—He gives eternal life. And it comes with this ironclad assurance: no one can snatch you from His hand.

John 10:28–29 (NLT)
“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.”

This is not poetic exaggeration. This is covenant truth, sealed in the blood of Christ and backed by the omnipotent power of the Father. You are not dangling by a thread over the edge of salvation—you are held. Held by the pierced hands of the Son and the almighty hand of the Father. Jesus is not unsure of His sheep. He knows them. He keeps them. He protects them, not for a season, but forever.

“Never perish” means what it says. There is no expiration date on the grace you’ve received. Though your strength may falter, His hold on you will not. The hand of God is not like the hand of man. It does not grow weary. It does not slip. It does not release when you stumble. The same God who created galaxies holds your fragile soul and says, You are Mine—and you will never be taken.

What a comfort this is when spiritual warfare rages, when the lies of the enemy roar, or when your own failures seem to accuse you. Jesus doesn’t just defend your soul—He possesses it. You are not vulnerable to the schemes of darkness. You are not subject to the shifting whims of your emotions. You are kept in the hand that shaped creation and bore your sin. You are secure.

And just to make it unmistakably clear, Jesus adds: “No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” If His hand is wrapped around you, who could ever pry it open? There is no thief, no failure, no force—visible or invisible—that can undo what God has done. His grip is eternal, and His heart is steadfast.

Application

Are you resting in the strength of His grip, or striving to hold on in your own? Surrender your fears of falling away to the truth of this promise. You are not barely hanging on—you are securely held. Let this truth anchor your joy, renew your confidence, and fill your worship with gratitude.
