In a world that constantly asks, “What do you live for?”, Paul gives a bold answer: Christ. Not a part of life. Not an accessory to life. Christ is our life. Colossians 3:4 lifts our eyes from the temporary and roots our hope in a coming glory that is both personal and eternal.
Scripture:
“And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.” — Colossians 3:4, NLT
Reflection:
The language of this verse is stunning in its simplicity and depth. Christ, who is your life. Not just someone we follow. Not just someone we admire. He is our life—the source, the sustainer, and the purpose of our existence.
This truth builds on the previous verse: our life is hidden with Christ in God. What’s unseen now—our identity, our hope, our security—will one day be fully revealed. When Christ returns, the world will see what God already sees in us. And we won’t just see His glory—we’ll share in it.
This is grace beyond comprehension. We, who were dead in sin, not only receive mercy—we’re invited into glory. Not because we earned it, but because we are united with Jesus. His story becomes ours. His resurrection life becomes our eternal destiny.
This verse isn’t just future-focused; it’s deeply present. Knowing that our true life is in Christ changes how we live today. It frees us from chasing status or approval. It reminds us that we are already secure. And it fuels a longing for the day when all things will be made new.
Application:
Let Christ be more than part of your life—let Him be your life. Center your thoughts, goals, and decisions around Him. When discouragement or distraction creeps in, lift your eyes to the promise of future glory. One day, you will see Him—and in that moment, everything will make sense. Live now in light of then.

Prayer:
Jesus, You are my life. Forgive me for the times I’ve placed other things at the center of my heart. Help me to live with eternity in view, knowing that I will one day see You in glory. Until that day, shape my life to reflect Yours—full of grace, truth, and hope. Amen.
