There are times when the weight of our weakness feels unbearable—when guilt, shame, or failure whispers that we are unworthy to be near God. But Scripture reveals something astonishing: Jesus doesn’t just forgive us once and walk away. He continually intercedes for us. Right now, at this very moment, the risen Christ is our Advocate, our High Priest, and our Defender before the Father.
Scripture:
“Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.” — Romans 8:34, NLT
“Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.” — Hebrews 7:25, NLT
“But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.” — 1 John 2:1, NLT
Reflection:
These three verses, taken together, open a window into the ongoing ministry of Jesus in heaven. We often speak of what Christ has done—and rightly so. His death and resurrection are the foundation of our faith. But the Gospel doesn’t end at the empty tomb. Christ ascended and now sits at the right hand of God—not in rest alone, but in active intercession.
Romans 8 assures us there is no condemnation for those in Christ. Why? Because the One who could judge us—Jesus Himself—is the very One pleading on our behalf. He died for us, He rose for us, and now He intercedes for us. Every moment. Every day.
Hebrews 7:25 echoes this truth with a promise that He saves “once and forever.” His intercession isn’t temporary or occasional—it is continual and eternal. Jesus is not tired of you. He is not exasperated by your weakness. He lives to make your case before the Father.
And when we stumble (because we will), 1 John 2:1 meets us with hope. “If anyone does sin…” That’s not a license to sin, but a comfort in failure. We have an Advocate—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One—who pleads for us not based on our righteousness, but His.
Application:
Let these truths steady your heart today. When you feel overwhelmed by your sins or shortcomings, remember this: Jesus is still for you. You are not alone in your struggle. You are not beyond grace. Let your response be worship, not despair. Come boldly to the throne of grace, knowing that your Savior is already there, speaking on your behalf.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for never giving up on me. Thank You for pleading for me even when I fall short, for carrying my case with mercy and righteousness. Help me rest in Your intercession, not in my performance. Teach me to come to the Father with confidence, knowing You are always near—always speaking grace over my life. Amen.rds, and actions. Let my life reflect Your truth and draw others to Your grace. Amen.
