Remain in Christ

The world is filled with voices that distort the truth about Jesus. John warns believers not to be shaken by false teachers, but to stand firm in the anointing they have received from Christ—the Spirit of truth who guards their hearts.

Scripture
“Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come… But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.” — 1 John 2:18, 27 (NLT)

Reflection
John speaks with urgency: “the last hour is here.” He points to the reality that opposition to Christ has already begun through those who deny Jesus as the Son of God. These “antichrists” are not just future figures—they are anyone who twists or rejects the truth of Christ.

Yet John does not leave believers afraid. He reminds them of the anointing they have received—the Holy Spirit—who leads them into truth and anchors them in Christ. Jesus promised this very gift: “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13, NLT).

The antidote to deception is not fear, but abiding. To remain in Christ is to cling to His Word, trust His Spirit, and rest in the truth that He is the Son of God. This abiding brings confidence and keeps us from being swept away by false teaching.

Application
Stand firm today in the truth of who Jesus is. Guard your heart against voices that deny or diminish Him. Lean on the Holy Spirit, who dwells in you and teaches you what is true. Take time to abide in Christ through prayer and His Word, trusting His Spirit to guide and keep you.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for giving me the gift of Your Spirit, who teaches me what is true. Keep me rooted in You so that I will not be deceived by false voices. Teach me to remain in fellowship with You, confident that You are the Son of God and my eternal life. Amen.
